Aaron Rodgers: 'I Can't Wait to Play with Davante Adams AGAIN'

Future Hall of Famers Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams
Dynamic Duo: Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams

The more things change, the more they remain the same. Such is the case in life and apparently in football, too.

Former Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers has been pulling out all the stops to reunite with former teammate Davante Adams since the star wideout was traded from the Packers to the Raiders before the start of the 2022 season. Since then, Rodgers has moved onto what he hopes are greener pastures in New York, but he still can't quite get his former wide receiver out of his head. Who can blame him either? The duo was prolific in Green Bay, pairing for 69 touchdowns and NFC North dominance for nearly a decade.

Rodgers won't leave things alone between the two and Adams admitted as much, recently telling Kay Adams, "He's in my ear." Now Rodgers' off-the-cuff remark while playing golf has the NFL world stirring. Are the Jets set at the wide receiver position or not? Here's what the future Hall of Famer told Vegas Sports Today,

"I love Davante. I can't wait to play with him....again."

It could be Rodgers doing what he does best, stirring the pot and feeding into a media frenzy, or it also could be more. Rodgers isn't the type to let things go and if he isn't satisfied with the way things ended between the two in Green Bay, then Rodgers will continue pursuing Davante until he gets his man. The two teammates have remained close friends throughout the years, and it wouldn't be surprising to see the duo together again at some point, however Adams' contractual status may beg to differ.

The Las Vegas Raiders control Davante Adams' contract through the 2026 season, when Rodgers will be 42 years old. So, if the Jets do want to add Davante to their offensive arsenal, they would have to swing a trade for the former Packer, which won't be easy.

Adams is set to make nearly $17 million this season, and more than $35 million in each of the 2025 and 2026 seasons. The Jets only have roughly $6 million in cap room this season, so if it's going to happen, Adams will have to cooperate in restructuring his deal, if the Raiders would even consider trading such an impact player. Even in what was considered a down year in 2023, where the Raiders switched coaches and quarterbacks, Adams still garnered over 1,000 yards receiving and 8 touchdowns. Unless Aaron Rodgers doesn't intend to bring Davante Adams to New York at all, and instead has plans to soon join Davante in Las Vegas 👀.
