All the picks are in for the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft and the Green Bay Packers have selected Arizona offensive lineman Jordan Morgan. While some fans expressed displeasure over the pick, considering popular mock draft selections like Cooper DeJean and Graham Barton were still on the board at 25, the experts are unified in heaping praise on the team's newest member. Morgan is a stud with great versatility and should be an important component to the Packers offensive line for years to come.

Here's what Packers GM Brian Gutekunst had to say about the selection,

"We stuck at 25 and made the pick with Jordan Morgan. I'm real excited, we all are. He's a versatile offensive lineman like we like, real athletic, so he can probably play four positions for us. He's a two-time team captain, our kind of guy. I'm real excited to get him and it will be good to get him up here."

Gutekunst also confirmed that the Packers had multiple opportunities to move out of the 25 spot, but just wouldn't budge with a player they viewed as favorably as Morgan still on the board.

While serving as an analyst for The Pat McAfee Show, six-time Super Bowl winning coach Bill Belichick had nothing but praise for the Packers new first round pick,

"Morgan - he's a left tackle all the way. He tore his ACL and then came back and played his senior year at Arizona last year for Jedd Fisch. And, of course, Fisch did a great job with that Arizona program, put them in the top 10 after being the worst team in college football when he took over in 2021. Jordan is really a high quality kid, very smart, good pass protector, very athletic. He's a good football player. He's a left tackle and so, I don't think there's any doubt about that. He needs to get a little bit stronger in the lower body, but this is a good football player. He's got a good future....there's no way he was getting out of the first round. There were other teams who would have taken him, if they didn't."

That's glowing praise from a future NFL Hall of Famer which would seem to confirm that the Green Bay Packers made the right selection, even if it isn't an exciting one for some. Securing offensive line talent for a young franchise quarterback is key to success in the NFL.

Exhibiting his willingness to be a team player, Morgan had previously said, "Put me at guard, put me at tackle - it doesn't matter." As a response to being drafted by the Packers, the two-time All Pac-12 recipient said that he, "can't wait to get to Green Bay and get to work."

The Packers have 10 more selections in this year's NFL draft, including four today, two each in rounds 2 and 3. Packers fans can watch rounds two and three on their favorite sports network tonight at 6PM CST.
